Rehearsal Resources

There are many places on the Web where practice files might be found. It is always worth a visit to YouTube to see if there is a video recorded by another choir that is a good one to sing along to. There are other video sites so it is worth searching for the piece you want a rehearsal version of. Just remember that not all editions are equal, so it is worth narrowing your search to the same edition of the printed vocal part the Chorale is using. Be aware that accompaniment versions you acquire from the Web may contain errors, so look out for note, note duration, and, sometimes, entire section differences, between your Web-acquired rehearsal version and your printed vocal part.

In the absence of a suitable performance video there may be MIDI or MP3 files available. These may be commercially produced performances of single parts or the entire piece, available for purchase. Try the publisher of the vocal score to see if they have MP3s for sale. Alternatively, there are websites that sell part MP3s or CDs for specific pieces.

Where a suitable commerically produced rehearsal recording is unavailable for the entire piece or your voice part, there may be a MIDI or computer-generated MP3 file available, produced by a member of another choir and made available via the Web.
